![]() * Here is a quote for reference, with a link to the originating thread:All i really want, is the newer look of the corner/turn signals. There are some that will come close and you have to do some customizing, but they won't look spot on. If you're asking if there's a DEPO cover that will make your 1996-2000 lights look like 2001+ lights with angel eyes, then no, there is not one. Your OEM HIDs will neither physically fit nor will the auto-adjust function:ĭEPO makes a clear corner cover for 1996-2000 lights. Auto-adjust relies on a mechanical component within the lights themselves. Some after market lights have small dimples where a hole can be tapped so that your OEM bracket will be able to screw in. You may be able to have some D2S DEPO lights with motors shipped, but for the price and effort I'll bet that it would be a wiser choice to get D2S Hellas, which are readily available.ģ) Not a big deal, but after market lights don't come with the metal brackets to hold the ballast. Back when umnitza did a group buy on DEPO P39s about a year and half ago, they mentioned that these can be included, but decided not to go that route.* They decided to use the DEPO lights with H7 sockets. I've never seen any after market lights that advertise the inclusion of these motors. ![]() I've only seen one catalog from DEPO that even has D2S sockets, and I've never ever seen that particular DEPO headlight sold anywhere.Ģ) Like I said, auto-adjust depends on motors within the headlight units themselves. Without tinkering, your D2S bulbs won't fit into the H7 openings. DEPO P39s, as well as most after market headlights, have openings for halogen bulbs of the size H7. BMW e39s use the D2S bulb, and in fact I don't know of any BMW that uses D2R bulbs. Your OEM HIDs will neither physically fit nor will the auto-adjust function:ġ) Any OEM HID setup uses one of two bulb sizes: D2S or D2R. What im trying to find out is if i buy aftermarktet P39s or whatever, can i take the oem HID housings out of my old lights, and install them in the aftermarkets and still have them work perfectly fine with auto adjust and everything? My main question is about the interchangeability of the E39 headlight unit.
